Bethany Lutheran School, Asaba
Founded in 2017 by Rev. Dr. Christian and Joy Ikanih, Bethany Lutheran Church and School Asaba (BLCS) Nigeria is a daughter congregation of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA and a congregation member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).
The primary mission of Bethany Lutheran Church and School Asaba is to proclaim and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nation and beyond. Bethany Lutheran Church and School Asaba is a non-profit, “Give Back” initiative to God. The school is focused on working holistically with the orphans and unprivileged needy children and families in the community (addressing spiritual, education, economic, social and physical needs).
Through the Gospel, we want to guide and give every child the opportunity to be nurtured and grow into a responsible, mature and fulfilled Christian adult. BLCS works with the community’s needy children and families in Asaba in the area of Cable Point, which is the most vulnerable.
What makes BLCS different is that the ministry program is Christ-centered, provides a safe environment and focuses on Christian education and welfare. Every child will be given an opportunity for a healthy start and with guidance and nurturing that transforms their lives to become successful adults in society.
We focus on the social, academic and spiritual development of our students.
The school places an emphasis on high academic achievement featuring careful instruction, a balanced curriculum based on research, best practice and rigid academic standards. There are dedicated experienced, knowledgeable, and skillful educators. These include teachers with NCE and Bachelor’s degrees in education who teach, guide and inspire students to excel. The “The Special Needs Scholarship Program” is in place which allows a student who meets certain eligibility requirements to receive a scholarship. We have experienced pastors and church workers who are available and willing to work with the students and families.
It is our desire that everyone participates in this noble vision by joining hands together to help support the needy children in the community.
